Description

How Volunteers Can Assist with Ringworm Care:

  1. Daily Cleaning & Sanitization:
Volunteers play a critical role in ensuring the living spaces of ringworm-infected animals are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to prevent the spread of the fungus to other animals.
  2. Animal Handling & Socialization:
Volunteers can assist with safely handling and socializing animals undergoing ringworm treatment, providing them with comfort and interaction while maintaining infection control protocols.
  3. Laundry & Bedding Care:
Volunteers can manage the laundry of bedding, towels, and other materials that need to be sanitized regularly to reduce the risk of contamination.
  4. Monitoring & Reporting:
Volunteers can help track the animals’ progress by completing daily logs or "medical report cards" to report any changes in the animal’s condition, skin, or behavior to the veterinary and care team.
  5. Providing Enrichment:
While the animals are in isolation, volunteers can offer enrichment activities such as toys, puzzles, or simple playtime to keep the animals engaged and reduce stress during treatment.
  6. Education & Awareness:
Volunteers can help educate fellow volunteers or even the public about ringworm, explaining the treatment process and the fact that it’s treatable, to help reduce fear or stigma.

Volunteers - Tuesdays & Fridays are Dip days, please be aware that we may have staff still working during your scheduled shift. If this is the case, feel free to socialize and check on our adoptable cats before heading into RW.

Thank you for you endless support!
